MARGARET'S HOPE SFTGFOP1 BLACK TEA
Margaret’s Hope is renowned for its exceptional Darjeeling teas, particularly the First Flush (Spring harvest), distinguished by its light, floral, and brisk qualities. The Second Flush presents a unique muscatel and fruity character. The Autumn Flush and Moonlight teas are rarer varieties, highly coveted by tea sommeliers and connoisseurs. Grown in the picturesque foothills of the Himalayas within the Kurseong Valley of India's esteemed Darjeeling region, this superior China SFTGFOP1 stands for Super Fine Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe 1 — one of the highest quality whole-leaf Darjeeling grades, with lots of tips (young buds), offers a captivating tasting experience with its nuanced fruity-floral profile. The dry leaves display a striking blend of predominantly black and brown hues, interspersed with vibrant green leaves and delicate silvery tips. Celebrated for its mellow sweetness, this tea embodies the timeless essence of classic Darjeeling tea. The estate's heritage China tea bushes contribute to its esteemed reputation. With mild, subtly floral notes and a refreshing character, it features delicately sweet honey undertones complemented by a hint of the region's signature muscatel flavour. Perfect for afternoon tea or high tea with friends and family, this exquisite tea can be enjoyed at any time of day, making it a delightful addition to your tea collection.
MARGARET'S HOPE TEA ESTATE, DARJEELING, INDIA.
Margaret’s Hope Tea Estate is one of the most iconic and historic tea gardens established in the early 1830s in Darjeeling, India, renowned for producing premium Darjeeling teas enjoyed by connoisseurs around the world. It is situated in the picturesque Kurseong Valley in Northern Darjeeling. The estate spans elevations between 3,500 and 6,000 feet above sea level, encompassing approximately 361 hectares of lush landscape. The estate was originally known as "Bara Ringtong." It was renamed "Margaret's Hope" in the 1920s to honour Lady Margaret, the daughter of the estate manager, Mr Cruickshank. Lady Margaret held a profound affection for the estate and intended to return from England. Tragically, she succumbed to a tropical disease during her journey back, leaving her aspirations unfulfilled. In her memory, the garden was renamed "Margaret's Hope." The tea garden is characterised by its stunning natural beauty, with misty slopes and two rivers meandering through the property and offering breathtaking views of the majestic Eastern Himalayan range. The rich biodiversity of the estate, including an abundance of ferns, orchids, wildflowers, alpine trees and rushing streams, creates a vibrant ecosystem.
