LOPCHU GOP BLACK TEA
This exceptional Darjeeling tea from Lopchu's renowned collection is crafted from premium Chinary leaves, offering a truly classic experience. Lopchu GOP (Golden Orange Pekoe) presents a complex yet balanced cup, characteristic of Darjeeling second-flush teas. It is rich and fragrant, with floral and fruity notes, occasionally exhibiting the muscatel hints that are a signature of fine Darjeeling teas. The tea boasts a full-bodied liquor with an earthy sweetness, complemented by a distinctive smoky flavour and mellow undertones of burnt wood. Its refreshing profile is enhanced by subtle notes of cocoa and cherry wood, resulting in a delightful and flavorful cup. The smooth texture and briskness invigorate the palate, leaving a savoury aftertaste reminiscent of apricot, peach, and red berries. The muscatel character—a prized, grape-like nuance—can also be present in many second-flush Darjeeling teas. Lopchu teas are the epitome of versatility, offering unmatched satisfaction whether enjoyed steaming hot or cold-brewed to perfection as a refreshing iced tea.
LOPCHU TEA ESTATE, DARJEELING, INDIA.
Lopchu is one of Darjeeling's oldest and most renowned tea estates, established in the early 1860s, during the British colonial period. It is nestled between the picturesque Darjeeling hills and the Teesta River. The estate sits on low-lying hills in the Rangli Rangliot area, overlooking scenic valleys and the majestic Kanchenjunga peak. The Lopchu estate spans approximately 226 acres of tea production, with plants thriving at an elevation of 4,800 feet in the Darjeeling hills, situated between Darjeeling and Kalimpong. The majority of the tea plants were originally transplanted from Yunnan Province in China. This unique combination of Chinese tea bushes and Darjeeling's distinct climate imparts a delicate muscatel flavour and a refined aroma, offering a soothing tea-drinking experience. Lopchu Tea Estate produces Darjeeling teas with a unique flavour profile, celebrated for their robust, full-bodied character and distinctive smoky, malty notes. This exceptional quality has garnered a passionate global following among tea aficionados.
