KHONGEA CTC BLACK TEA
Experience the exquisite richness of Khongea's CTC (Crush, Tear, Curl) tea, renowned for its malty, full-bodied, and robust profile. Ideal for a strong breakfast or afternoon tea, this Assam tea begins its journey with the first harvest in March, following a period of winter dormancy. The First Flush in Assam is distinguished by its fragrant, fresh, and flowery character, offering a spicier note, and yields a golden yellow cup. However, the pinnacle of quality is achieved during the Second Flush in May and June. Khongea's Second Flush tea is notable for its high proportion of chunky golden tips, delivering a spicy and malty character with infused leaves that exhibit a rich coppery red to deep brown hue. The robust nature of Assam black teas makes it an ideal base tea for Chai, or Masala Chai, as it is locally known.
KHONGEA TEA ESTATE, ASSAM, INDIA.
Khongea Tea Estate is situated in the upper reaches of Assam, on the south bank of the Brahmaputra River. Assam, is the largest tea-growing region in the world, renowned for its tea plantations that produce some of the world's finest rich, malty, full-bodied, and robust black teas. The region's humid, tropical climate and fertile soil create ideal conditions for cultivating the distinctive Assam variety of tea, known for its strong flavor and briskness. Established in the late nineteenth century by English tea-planting pioneers, Khongea Tea Estate has been under the management and ownership of the Prakash family for over 50 years. The estate is particularly well known for producing high-quality teas, especially the popular CTC (Crush, Tear, Curl) variety.
