This is a classic white, handcrafted porcelain Gaiwan with a capacity of 120ml/4.1oz, paired with a set of four small 25ml cups, all made in Fujian province, China.A Gaiwan is a traditional Chinese tea-brewing cup widely used in China and in the “Gongfu” tea ceremony. It consists of a cup with a lid and a saucer. The lid is used to cover the cup to retain the tea's temperature during brewing, and also functions as a sieve to hold back the tea leaves when pouring into cups. It is a perfect brewing cup for Green and White teas, as well as Oolong and Pu-erh teas, because the Gaiwan's porcelain absorbs the heat of the brewing water without damaging the tea. The tea drinker can re-infuse the tea leaves multiple times in the Gaiwan. The steep slope of the lid, combined with the fine rim, provides good control and makes this Gaiwan easy to use.
